Can you help with turkey thawing question?
I'm being given a 10-12 pound turkey tomorrow night (Saturday) which is frozen. I want to cook it on Thursday morning. My question is, can I put it in the fridge right away (i.e. tomorrow night when I get it?) It will take approximately three days to thaw, meaning that it will be completely thawed by Tuesday night, and will then sit in the fridge thawed until Thursday morning. Would this be safe, or would it be better to put it in the freezer tomorrow night when I get it and then take it out of the freezer on Monday morning. Due to freezer space I'd rather put it directly into the fridge, but don't want to risk salmonella!
